Has you MN paths crossed with Luke Spehar? Your musical tastes sound like his style of music. Also, love the prayer. Jesus reminded me in adoration this week that HE is the source that I was looking for.
Cassandra, you made my heart sing with this. Luke Spehar holds a special place in my heart. After our daughters died, one of our kids' beloved teachers sent me "All Is Gift" because it reminded her of them/us. I listened to his music so often during those only years of grief, and once I reached out to him with a total fangirl note to tell him how much his art had helped me. So yes, you're totally on track with my kind of music.
You're so kind, Warren! I actually wrote a new one this week. Haven't figured out how to share it well on Substack with the formatting (and the formatting matters a lot with this one) but you can find it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DH8UXPLRtJX/
Loved the Catholic Crate shop! I bought playing cards for my adult kids, prayer cards for friends, and a tote bag for my mom to carry her prayer books to church in. Thanks!
Fastest and most favorite way to memorize a prayer for me is to set it to music! Try this version of the Suscipe called Take, Lord by Matt Wessel, it's simple and easy to learn (and Matt is a fellow Marquette grad, #murahrah ;-) https://open.spotify.com/track/4q6i1VhwttkbxzdFrNRE2q
I put a poem on Facebook each day. Saturday is a special day. May I share your poem and notes? My friends will be glad for it as I am.
Absolutely, thank you!
And I do like the poem. And the courage of so many. Cory Booker.
My wife and I will walk tomorrow. We will stand.
Peace.
Jess Ray has a beautiful rendition of Suspice on her Matin album Rest. I have found great comfort in the prayer when life gets heavy.
You reminded me that a friend had shared this song with me, and I stuck it on a playlist & forgot about it. Thank you!
Love ALL this! And I have to share; Jess Ray set the Suscipe Prayer to music and it has become the heartbeat of this Lenten season for me. I think you’ll enjoy…https://open.spotify.com/track/0YMdy9cWBJPL3Sf1nDRrdP?si=l-OQ02WtSLygxaPHKkeJaA
This is such a gorgeous version! Thank you for reminding me of it - soaring & haunting.

That is a beautiful story! I met him on a small college tour he did when I was no longer in school and have loved his music since.
Any new poetry, Laura? I like your poetry.

I'm so glad you struck gold there, too! Their stuff is delightful & well made.
Gotta love Mumford all the time!
It is on constant rotation here!
