Thank you for your work and for sharing these links. I also am working to divest myself from billionaires and further support local. I have seen that bookshop.org and thriftbooks also offer affiliate programs.
Thanks, Amy! I’ve had a Bookshop affiliate in the past but it never worked well for me (certain it was user error on my end). So I’m grateful for the nudge to check it out again.
Linda, your words give me hope! The evaporation of quiet morning time for prayer and writing has been such a big loss for me after cancer. I try to be patient (not a strong suit) so you're encouraging me to rest and take the long view.
i can’t wait to dive into all your links this week! but i just took a peek at those prints… wow. just gorgeous. thank you for sharing all this with us!
Hi! I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for a lectio prayer/devotional book? Hoping to not use a phone/screen. I know Magnificat makes a book on the daily gospel readings but it's sold out.
I love Give Us This Day! Similar format to Magnificat but I find it easier to use with lectio and the daily reflections are fantastic. You can try out a free copy here! http://giveusthisday.org/motheringspirit
Thank you, Diane! I signed up to be an affiliate with them years ago when they launched, but the interface was really clunky (and they never paid out, ha!). But I love what they’re doing in support of local bookstores, so I’ve been meaning to give them a second try.
Ha, ok maybe I never got to $25! I think where I goofed up was in trying to support a local bookstore with or instead of my affiliate links, and then nothing would link correctly. I don’t think you can do personal affiliate links that also lead to buying from a particular store too, although I would love that - gotta dig more into the details, clearly!
I read Give Us This Day. Love when you're the author! I actually took a photo of this week's and sent it to my husband. He's a fed employee, I'm a public school teacher, we need all the reminders this week that God is with us, among us, and in us.
Melissa, I start the day (or try to!) with daily lectio divina with the Gospels. For the past two years I was reading through the healing stories, and now I’m reading through slowly for Jesus’ relationship with nature. If you’re intrigued, I did a workshop before Advent on lectio divina with the Church in the 21st Century Center at Boston College - a how-to on starting to pray with lectio (or learning new ways if you’ve done it before). You can still watch it here & download the free short guide: https://www.bc.edu/content/bc-web/centers/church21/programs/c21-advent-resources/Listening-to-God-in-Advent.html
Thanks, Linda. What I'd really love is to become a Barnes & Noble book affiliate, so that I could point people in the direction of a book business that is thriving and supporting authors. So writing the snarky little note to myself at the end here actually spurred me on to reach out to them again and inquire. I know Amazon has become a monolith in our lives, but I have such internal conflicts about my own continued purchases there!

Good luck with it. Keep us posted!
Your early bird habits may come back Laura, along with your energy. Mine did. Thank you for your posts.

“Christmas is past”
Traditionally it’s not past until this coming Sunday, Candlemas, so bring on the Christmas music!
I have a few devoted family members who listen to Christmas music year round, so a hearty here-here to this!

They are GORGEOUS - I’ll have to share pictures of the other two!
Thanks for sharing this art!!

It’s easy to become a Bookshop affiliate! Highly recommend!

I think the payout threshold is like $25. I usually cash out once/year in December so I don’t have to worry about it!

Just ordered two prints! What a great ministry and gift he’s offering.
Isn’t it gorgeous? I want to wallpaper my house in his art.

Thank you so much, Cory! They are a fantastic publication that I’m happy to contribute to. (The artwork on the monthly covers, too - swoon.)
What an excellent roundup. I just donated and placed an order for one of those prints - it was nearly impossible to pick just one! I want them all!!
Same! His work is incredible!
I’m intrigued by this “daily lectio” and amen to severe health woes changing your “normal”.

Bless you Laura I am 30 years out. Prayer gets you through.
Lovely suggestions and interesting reflection on monetizing your work. Thank you.
