You have broadened my understanding of light! May the bend of Justice allow us to see the Colors within the light. May the light within us be strong enough to give light in the dark.
Thank you so much, Linda! Your words are beautiful. I can't stop thinking about how all the colors of light might have been held in that light that God used to guide in Scripture (and guides us still). It's a wonder when nature opens up the book of creation for us in wider ways.
I read quite a bit on Substack but my problem is that my budget can only support a few writers. I get frustrated when I can’t read a whole article. Being retired my monthly income is limited.
I hear you and feel this as a reader too. So often I get that heartsink of the paywall from a favorite writer. But I get it from the creator side, since it’s so hard to make a living from this work. I try to do a few paid subscriptions a year and spread them out…but this is also why I also tell people if they need a scholarship for my Substack, I’m happy to share it - as I’ve also been the recipient of them from others in harder financial seasons.
No, I don't think so - although now I am laughing to myself because I thought we were having this exchange on Notes and now I see it on my comment thread for the last Holy Labor essay. So I don't know where we are chatting, but I'm grateful for it! And no, you haven't missed anything: your paid subscription is a huge support for my work and I am deeply grateful for it. (Was just working this morning on something brand new for paid subscribers that I am very excited to share with you for Lent, so stay tuned!)
I struggled a bit with the core message, I think I am still unwrapping it. Easily got the sun part. Loved it and the picture! But the tangent towards the political part, still working on. Not sure where you meant it to lean.
One of your finest columns, Laura...I wish that I could memorize it!
Thank you, Joy! I am so touched and encouraged by your words. Grateful to have you reading along.

Thank you. I have a paid subscription to the holy labor. Is that different from this?

I meant it to lean toward God's mercy and justice.
This was beautiful, Laura. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much, Megan!
