You are strong and amazing and I am so grateful that you share your beautiful work and words with all of us. You have helped shape my faith as a mother probably more than anything else in these past years. You are indeed a theologian. I’m praying for you.
You are the most influential theologian of my life, Laura. You grant the Holy Spirit the spaciousness to work through you. You perceive and clarify what is good, true, and beautiful, and you solidly anchor it all in God. Thank you for being a wellspring to us. You and each of your loved ones are in my daily prayers.
All these years of you arranging 26 letters into beautiful, transformative and impactful stories is just remarkable! All of us who have been and will continue to be blessed recipients of your words are filled with gratitude for your yes to the call of being a theologian all along!!! Praying for you!
Thank you so much, Deanne! You have such a gift of encouragement and I am the grateful recipient. Praying in thanksgiving today for you and your ministry.
I started the process of "joining the guild" with my master's in theology. Every single day I was astonished by the nerve of people who talked all day every day about feminism or "doing theology from the underside" in the most impenetrable, abstract language that had nothing to do with the real lives of actual people. St. Evagrius said "a theologian is one who prays truly." Thanks for doing theology with and for us. In real life.
Thank you so much for this. I keep meaning to reach out and tell you that your beautiful card sits right by my bathroom sink (an odd place of honor maybe, but I think you get this) and I read it so many times a day. Grateful to you for reminding me I am always held. We are always held.
26 letters, seems so small a grace, yet so full of possibilites and brave new worlds. Hugs to you as you urge us on. Yes, you are a theologian. We should not be less.
Your writing is a gift to us all, Laura. We will pray you through this darkness. You will resurrect from it, just as you did from your brother’s death and the loss of your precious daughters. Keep the faith. May God bless you every step of the way.
I feel like i know you (you must get this all the time!) Your writing has always drawn me in. Your style so raw, vulnerable and piercing clear. I guess that is why i have always been so moved by you and your story and story telling. Yes you indeed are a theologian! A gifted one at that! YOU make so clear where God is and how he and the Holy Spirit are moving in your life but also it helps shed light on where God might be in other’s/mine life too. Your thoughts and writings are such a gift and a grace. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. Please know that even though we do not know one another you are in my frequent thoughts and daily prayers. As long as it is helpful and healing for you to write your thoughts throughout this fighting, conquering and healing process which it seems like it might be then please do so. On the flip side please know that it is also ok not share/write if not up to it. Rooting and praying for you!

Wow. Just wow. I will read this over and over. Maybe print it out and put it next to “the poem” in my living room. What a gift …

Thank you so much, Peg! This means so much to me.
This was so beautifully written. Wow. How laced Genesis into it was just so gorgeous.
