Tomorrow we’ll launch our first retreat for Mothering Spirit. Sing A New Song: A Birth Story Retreat will dive into Scripture—from the Psalms to the Gospels—to invite mothers to bring their stories in prayer to God.
In the spirit of this retreat, I wanted to share a story from my first book, Everyday Sacrament: The Messy Grace of Parenting. As I created this retreat, my first birth was the story that kept surfacing—so this chapter about infertility and birth, initiation and confirmation, has been weaving through my thoughts lately.
I wanted to share it with you with my thanks for supporting my work here and our collective holy labors at Mothering Spirit.
